What happened Monday at Halas Hall:
The Bears didn’t practice but were required to release an estimated injury report and didn’t think right guard Jonah Jackson (hip) would have been available. Jackson went down in the second half Sunday against the Falcons, and Luke Newman replaced him. Jackson hasn’t missed a start in two seasons with the Bears.
No. 2 running back Kyle Monangai, an integral part of the ground game alongside D’Andre Swift, looks unlikely to be back against the Patriots. Monangai has missed two games with a toe injury, and the Bears said he wouldn’t have practiced. If he’s out, Roschon Johnson is likely to continue getting a decent share of carries.
The Patriots put wide receiver Romeo Doubs, formerly of the Packers, on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He leads them with 261 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Tyson Bagent’s spot as the backup quarterback was in question after he got benched against the Packers, but coach Ben Johnson kept him in the No. 2 spot Sunday and made third-stringer Case Keenum the inactive emergency quarterback.
The Bears eventually want Ozzy Trapilo to step back into his spot as the starting left tackle, and playing a few series Sunday in his season debut was a step toward that. Johnson must weigh whether he’s ready for more or to stay predominantly with Theo Benedet.
