An employee of a local deli in West Philadelphia is in the hospital after he was shot three times during an altercation on Monday night.

The shooting took place outside the Quick and Quality Breakfast & Deli after a man, who had first visited the business about 40 minutes earlier, entered the business a second time and began arguing with the cashier.

Two other employees stepped in to try to deescalate the situation, according to Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace.

A 24-year-old employee and the shooter moved outside, and that is when the shooter shot the employee in the abdomen, lower thigh and back.

The employee is in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

The suspect was described as a man in his 20s who was wearing a black cap, a black long-sleeve shirt and tan pants, Pace said.

Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or anonymously online here.
