Gary Brackett’s favorite Super Bowl memory

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 2027 Super Bowl (Super Bowl LXI) will air on our second station WRTV. The Big Game is scheduled for February 14.

Former Colts linebacker Gary Brackett reflected on his favorite memory from when the Colts won Super Bowl XLI.

“One of my favorite Super Bowl moments or highlights for me would be the way the defense played,” Brackett said. “Heading into the game, we knew how great the Chicago Bears defense was. We knew how great our offense was, but I think the question was always, how will the Colts defense show up? And did we ever show up. Five takeaways. I think Bob (Sanders) had a forced fumble and an interception. Kelvin Hayden sealed the deal, Raheem Brock getting a fumble. So just flying around on the football, it was a wet, nasty game. As a defensive player, you love that, you know they got to run the football, you know it’s going to be a great opportunity to create turnovers, and that’s what we did, so it was a bunch of fun getting a team win, everyone celebrating, and having that memory to share with some great men and a bunch of Hall of Famers.”

Brackett played all nine years of his NFL career with the Colts. He had four seasons with 100 or more tackles. Brackett ended his career with 712 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 12 interceptions.
