(KRON) -- Authorities said multiple homes in Saratoga were saved by firefighters who doused blazes that were ignited by a suspected arsonist. The person responsible for setting "several small fires" along Prospect Road remains at large, the Santa Clara County Fire Department wrote Monday.
Firefighters said they responded on Friday, October 16, to reports of a man starting fires. They found brush, property fencing, and a power pole in flames. Two nearby homes were directly threatened, SCCFD said.
"Thanks to the quick reporting from a passerby and a swift response by firefighters, the fires were contained and extinguished before spreading to the homes, and no injuries were reported," the fire department wrote.
Witnesses said they saw a man intentionally ignite vegetation before fleeing the area. The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, 40s, or 50s, 5'10" tall, with white hair.
